Australians can now check calls claiming to be from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) on the spot with a new verification feature added to the ATO app. The tool allows users to confirm in real time whether they are speaking with the tax office, not a scammer impersonating it, as authorities move to clamp down on increasingly sophisticated fraud attempts.
